I am a ‘retired lawyer’, since December last year, now considering a complete change of direction in life. Where to is currently not yet clear, but while I decide about that, I presently have a project building a large wooden shed
with a living green roof (aka the ‘man-cave’) in my back garden. I live in South West London (where I grew up) with my wife Mariana and three children, Sylvie, Hugo and Xanthe. I am on the crew to support, encourage and spur on Per, whom I first met in Italy over 18 years ago (where we got drunk a lot, smoked Diana cigarettes and ate Big Macs to cure hangovers!). I consider him an eternal friend.
What won’t be interesting (read funny) about a fat boy on a bicycle trying to ride solo across the USA in just 10 days??? Joking aside, extreme challenges have always fascinated me and to be a part of this one, which will combines superhuman endeavour with the adventure of an epic journey, is an exciting privilege. Plus I know that Per can do it.
My favourite snack is a packet of ‘dirty’ crisps, typically salt and vinegar but often other variations on the dirty crisp theme will also be satisfactory, e.g. scampi fries, monster munch, pickled onion space raiders… I could go on…….
